Himanshu H. Shah is Founder, President and Chief Investment Officer of Shah Capital, and Managing Member of Shah Capital Opportunity Fund LP.
Himanshu has over twenty-five years of experience in the capital markets, investing in both the US and internationally. He has an accomplished background of blending bottom up fundamental research with a vast and intricate knowledge of global macroeconomic trends. He has also demonstrated his ability to act in an activist role but prefers a softer approach. Included in his successes, he drove the restructuring effort of a US Fortune 500 consumer staple company, and led the debt restructuring effort at a Chinese wastewater treatment company.
Mr. Shah has been featured in numerous media publications including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Bloomberg, Thomson-Reuters, Triangle Business Journal, Singapore Edge, and South China Morning Post. He fully recognizes the philanthropic needs of the community both in the US and abroad and supports numerous non-profit organizations especially related to education in India.
Richard J. CallaghanDirector
While principally focused on Client Relations and Marketing, Rich has played a role in the evolution of Shah Capital including service providers, IT, and investor conferences. Rich joined Shah Capital in 2005 bringing 20 years of sales and marketing experience at AMD and Lucent.
He holds an MBA with concentration in Finance from Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC Chapel Hill and a BSEE from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. He also serves on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit organization.
Ke ChenDirector, Greater China Operation
Ke has been a part of the Shah Capital team since 2006. He is responsible for assisting with research and analysis of existing as well as potential future investment holdings in Greater China region. His role includes detailed monitoring of strategies and progress of companies within our investment portfolio while aiming to uncover new and profitable investment ideas.
Prior to joining Shah Capital, Ke had worked as a Scientist with Pfizer, Eli Lilly, and biotech startup Amphora Discovery. Ke holds a MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC Chapel Hill, also holds M.S. in Chemistry from University of Florida, and earned his B.S. from University of Science and Technology of China.
Don EspeyDirector, Research
Don has been a part of the Shah Capital team since December, 2006. He is responsible for assisting with research and analysis of existing as well as potential future investment holdings. His role includes detailed monitoring of strategies and progress of companies within our investment portfolio while aiming to uncover new and profitable investment ideas.
Don holds a B.S. in Finance from The University of Florida
Chaya RaoDirector, Compliance & Risk Management
Chaya as the compliance leader and subject matter expert is responsible for establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure that the compliance program of Shah Capital is effective and efficient in identifying, detecting, preventing, and correcting noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations. She also oversees all partnership related operations, administration and communication.
Chaya joined Shah Capital in June 2007. Chaya holds a B.A and LLB from Bangalore University
Shalin Y. ShahDirector, Private Investments
Shalin plays a varied role at Shah Capital including communication and fundraising with LPs and UHNWs. He also plays a role on special situations within the portfolio including new research opportunities.
Shalin joined Shah Capital in 2011. Prior to joining the firm, he was an analyst with Barclays Ventures in London, the bank’s mid-market private equity arm. Shalin holds a B.S. in Finance from Rutgers University.
Marie RaitzSenior Associate
Marie is responsible for both operations and administration duties, and client/partner related communication at Shah Capital. Marie joined Shah Capital in 2013.
